The popular Outlander compact SUV enters 2010 with no new changes. Power comes from the 168-hp 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, while an optional 3.0-litre V6 produces 230 hp. Only the base ES gets front-wheel drive and a five-speed manual transmission. The rest use six-speed automatic transmissions and all-wheel drive. The Outlander is fun to drive, and works best as a five-seater. The third row seats are hard to fold, difficult to get to, and uncomfortable for even the smallest child. The interior is one of Mitsubishi’s best, with good ergonomics and competitive materials.
